For more than 40 years, the best-selling truck in America has been the F-series, and it’s no surprise as to why. First introduced back in 1948, the F-150 is now in its 13th generation; it has stood the test of time with its rugged design that pays tribute to durability and longevity.
And today, it continues to reinvent itself while thrusting into the future with the new, all-electric 2022 Ford Lightning. This is the first F-series that’s completely gas-free, it also provides resolute technology as well as a grand driving experience, and all without compromising the trusted and robust build that Ford is known for.
New Features in the Ford 150 Lightning
The latest model yields a multitude of imaginative attributes and updates that makes it a cut above its predecessors.
First, the latest addition is fully electric, as such, it is loaded with all the benefits that a zero-emissions thrust can provide. Second, the enhanced technology not only improves truck performance, but it's also stacked with new updates, potent charging solutions, as well as integrated software that allows for remote entry to your truck. And third, the tough and resilient build associated with the Ford brand remains one of the most all-encompassing features.
Plans for Future Production
A recent report from Reuters has revealed that Ford has more than doubled its manufacturing objectives for the Lightning Electric pickup. Ford itself has announced that 100,000 pre-orders at $100 a piece have been claimed for the Electric truck, which is set for a release next spring.
The company continues to move forward into the future, finding ways to shatter constraints as well as meet the demands of customers.
The restraints Ford is set on overcoming are logistics network problems that have been disrupting the plans of automakers for quite some time.
Due to the scarcity of microchips, Ford has had to make many cuts in regards to production as this is an issue that has been impacting the entire industry. This past spring, Ford gathered thousands of microchips and set them aside in parking lots all over Detroit for them to be pulled and inserted.
And this most likely spells out why Ford is contemplating a slow production boost of the F-150 Lightning instead of flooding the market. The company intends to construct 15,000 F-150 Lightnings for the year 2022 -- a comparatively meager aim when you consider the fact that the company sold nearly 13,000 Mustang EVs within the first 6 months of 2021. However, the set number of F-150 Lightnings is set to increase going into the following years; 55,000 models will be built in 2023, followed by 80,000 models in 2024. Furthermore, a rebuild is set to take place in 2025; afterward, Ford is putting in the groundwork to sell as many as 160,000 models for each year going forward.
