An Overview of the 2022 Ford Maverick

A trailblazer, an initiator, and a pacemaker: the 2022 Ford Maverick is a fully customizable hybrid for all you recreational and pleasure-seeking enthusiasts. Saddled with a spacious interior in addition to being decorated with modernized technology; this compact pickup is the first of its kind in America.

Offering a tailor-made FLEXBED™ that provides the freedom and versatility to meet your needs, the Maverick is equipped to handle anything that’s required of it. Outfitted with a clever design, Ford ingeniously manufactured pre-made cavities within the cargo bed to install materials or freight without having to damage the sheet metal with drills or other tools.

The Changes Coming for 2022

Set to go on sale in the fall of 2021, the deliverance of the Ford Maverick has been a long time coming.

The Maverick is being offered in three different trims: the XL, the XLT, and the Lariat. The XL will be the most cost-effective and economical option out of the three. It’s sturdy, robust, and durable, which makes it a perfect choice for a highly valued work truck. On the other hand, choosing the XTL will result in 17-inch titanium wheels, an auto cruise function, a power door lock reserved for the tailgate, electrically controlled exterior mirrors, and much more. All of this makes the XTL option as contemporary as it is practical.

Motor, Transmission, and Presentation

Instead of beginning with the high-end supercharged conventional powertrain, Ford has made the decision to go the hybrid route with the Maverick. Every trim will come with a built-in 2.5 four-cylinder that’s accommodated by an electrically powered engine that will produce 191 - hp. This type of structure is only available with FWD (Front Wheel Drive) in addition to the variable automatic transmission.

Towing and Payload Volume

The Maverick is a stud of a pickup, offering 1500lbs of payload volume along with 2000lbs of towing capability. However, if upgraded to the turbo-charged four-cylinder option, with the discretionary Towing Package, the Ford Maverick will have the capacity to tow as much as 4000lbs. And if that still isn’t enough towing power for your small pickup, then consider the Santa Cruz option, which has the propensity to pull 5000lbs.

Fuel Economy

While the Environmental Protection Agency has yet to reveal any Maverick fuel economy evaluations, Ford asserts that the pickup will have the ability to deliver as much as 40 MPG within the city.

Interior, Style, and Hauling

Every Maverick is a crew cab edition, which entails four doors that are fully sized, in addition to enough backseat space to ensure a comfortable ride for all passengers. Moreover, several holders, cubbies, and small storage units have been placed all around the space of the cabin; serving as one of the many subtle nuances that add to the Maverik’s overall quality and design.

Further adding to the shades of refinement, the steering wheel is embellished with such features as audio control and distant keyless entrance -- this along with the seats being bolstered with lumbar support allows for easy adjustments to produce maximum comfort.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A touch screen of 8.0 inches creates the perfect infotainment medium and comes as standard equipment on every Maverick model. Additional features include onboard Wi-Fi, Sirius XM radio, enhanced stereo system, as well as wireless charging for your smartphone.

Driver-Assistance and Safety Features

Many of the more valuable, coveted, and in-demand features will be found in the more high-priced trims. However, the standard Maverick still provides several driver-assistance features that will help keep you and your family safe while on the road.

Here are some of the main safety attributes:

  • Automated emergency braking system
  • Leave-taking warning
  • Flexible cruise control function

Coverage of Warranty and Maintenance

Similar to other Ford vehicles, the Maverick provides a standard warranty bundle, which is reasonably basic and doesn’t provide any planned maintenance initiative.

  • A limited warranty will cover 36,000 miles (or 3 years)
  • A powertrain warranty will cover 60,000 miles (or 5 years)
  • The hybrid warranty will cover 100,000 miles (or 8 years)
