The original Ford Escape was released in 2001; at the time, it had a designed-for-the-trail likeness. It sported a rough composition, available V-6 power, and a refined (for that time) all-wheel drive setup. Today, the new Ford Escape's design offers a striking and stunning composition. Moreover, its cabin provides a roomy interior for both cargo and people.

You may wonder what else the new Ford SUV offers for the 2023 model year. After all, the latest installment has come a long way from its predecessors. Keep reading to learn about the 2023 new Ford Escape.

The 2023 New Ford Escape Overview

The new Ford Escape sports a handsome new front; this attribute comes with a broader grille highlighting the company’s ovoid logo. Moreover, the front bumper and hood have been remodelled with numerous new wheel compositions to refurbish the side view. The old trims (Titanium, S, SE, SEL) were withdrawn to accommodate a new lineup offering ST-Line, Platinum, and Active models. All models have voyaged from Sync three to Sync four regarding their infotainment requirements.

And it’s easy to see why: The Sync four system offers over-the-air updates, and a discretionary 13.2-inch infotainment monitor is also available. Each model has an 8.0-inch digital gauge monitor, which can be enlarged to a 12.3-inch display on certain trims.

Engine, Power, and Performance

The new Ford Escape boasts an array of powertrains. With a 181-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, the Escape stands head and shoulders above the competition. Further, the base turbo-three gas engine offers ample acceleration and reached 60 mph in less than 8 seconds in our test. In contrast, the enhanced 250-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is the more desirable option and was robust enough to hit 5.7 seconds in the same test.

Interior, Space, and Comfort

The new Ford SUV’s cabin is attractively designed and roomy for both front and back-seat passengers. The spacious interior accentuates the cabin with a premium look and feel, and the seat’s textured fabric upholstery comes as stock. At the back of the Escape—behind the rear seat—sprawls a generously sized cargo area, providing room for eight carry-on suitcases.

Technology and Connectedness

Base trims offer an 8.0-inch infotainment setup; however, Active trims (and higher) offer an optional 13.2-inch touchscreen monitor. Each display runs Ford's newest Sync four infotainment interface, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. This setup accepts over-the-air upgrades and will update automatically, so you don’t have to worry about using an out-of-date software version.

Other optional features include:

  • In-dash navigation
  • 12.3-inch digital gauge monitor
  • Pop-up head-up display
  • 10-speaker B&O audio system

Driver-Assistance Attributes

Ford offers numerous driver-assistance attributes, which it refers to as Co-Pilot360 (comes as stock equipment on every Ford Escape trim). Key safety features are as follows:

  • Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Standard forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking

Coverage for Maintenance and Warranty

The new Ford Escape hybrid (and plug-in hybrid) comes with guidelines for models' electrified powertrains and offers as much as 100,000 miles of protection.

  • Limited warranty covers 36 miles (or three years)
  • Powertrain warranty covers 60,000 miles (or five years)
  • Hybrid component warranty covers 100,000 miles (or eight years)
